The team over at Society Consulting recently hosted an open house event to kick off the new space that BUILD designed and constructed. The driving concept behind the design centered around interaction and activity. Needless to say, seeing the space packed with fun people and fully activated was pretty darn exciting.

Not too long ago, we covered the surface treatments in a blog post, along with resource callouts and some technical specs. Today’s post covers the fixtures, furnishings and hardware used in the space. You can see more photos of the party here.

LIGHTING
At the tiered Living Room space, the Pendant 6 with black cage and clear glass by Hi-Lite Manufacturing Company was used to keep the area fun but well lit. The pendants are mounted at varying heights to keep the space playful.

The linear lights at the work space needed to provide light above and below, which allowed us to feature an existing wood ceiling. Lightolier’s Spectral H-Profile direct-indirect pendant in the metallic finish was just the right light for the job.

To provide some rhythm and a supplementary light source, we specified the 17” Warehouse Pendant from Barn Light Electric. The optional cage was added and painted yellow to match the Society branding.

For pendants, we went with the classic RAB Vaporproof VP Pendant. They provide great light, they’re tough and we never get tired of looking at them.

At the Conference Room, Lightolier Power Head Gray Louvers were used because they communicate nothing but pure business.

At additional spaces like bathrooms, hallways and utility areas, 5” diameter Lightolier recessed downlights were installed. For bathroom wall mount lighting, we went with the Thomas SL875.

HARDWARE
The steel handrails at the tiered Living Room were made in-house by Bart Gibson. They’re clear-coated with lacquer, while the alternating treads at the steps are left raw.

At the bathrooms we installed B-5806 series grab bars, the B-359 towel dispenser and the B-306 soap dispenser from Bobrick, all in type-304 stainless steel. At the shower curtain rods, we went with #890 1 1/16” diameter steel tubing and #860 closed flanges from EPCO, each in polished chrome. The toilet paper holder is by C.R. Laurence in polished chrome. The towel hooks are the Sugatsune DSH-01 in satin.

The Kitchenette features coat hooks which are Sugatsune fork hooks in a 316 stainless steel with mirror finish. The Mug Wall is made up of zinc-plated steel hooks from McMaster-Carr.

FURNISHINGS
The enormous work tables in the main space (some as long as 28’) were site-built by Jason Webber. The tables are constructed of ¾” Europly with a thickened edge and gray laminate from Nevamar. The table in the conference room features yellow laminate racing stripes and brushed satin Alumiclad by Wilsonart. The adjacent wall cabinetry has some fun with the racing stripe zipping across the rough CMU fin wall.
