Special Projects Division Official Launch

We’ve been putting in some elbow grease on our SPD cabinet shop lately and today is an exciting day. We’re officially launching the new SPD website; it highlights our new cabinet series, it’s full of cool, modern furniture, and it’s got all sorts of other technical goodies about how we design and build. Go take a tour and let us know what you think.

Along with the new cabinet series and spiffy website, we’re hosting an open house later this week at our shop in Ballard. It will be an excellent chance to meet team SPD/ BUILD and kick the tires on the products. Let us know if you’d like to attend by emailing us at info@buildllc.com (an RSVP is required to attend). Master woodworker, David Hentzel, will be in the house to answer all the questions about cabinetry and woodworking that you could ever think of.

SPD furniture is being featured at Northwest Fine Woodworking’s 3rd annual Rising Star show, opening on July 7th in their Pioneer Square gallery space located at 101 South Jackson St. We’re honored to be part of a very talented group of furniture makers who have been selected for this juried show. The July 7th opening coincides with the first Thursday Art Walk, so scoot on over and check it out.

SPD’s work was also recently featured in American Craft Magazine, check out the article here.

Cheers to clean, modern design and we hope to see you at the open house.

Hi,
I love your Build site and really appreciate the effort you put into it…super awesome!
But the Flash on your new Special site means that site takes AGES to load the first time: around 30 seconds. So long, people might not wait to see the homepage. Clear your browser cache and try it…I found three different loading movies until the first image. Might want to reconsider and just use HTML.
Hope this is helpful, and again, you guys rock!
Best,
Tom

Nice work guys. Best of luck. Hope the shop prospers and brings in lots of interesting, diverse and profitable work.
Not necessarily in that order!

Looks sharp guys, looking forward to following the progress…

I’m going to take a shot in the dark here and guess that the folks who can’t wait the 30 seconds for your site to load aren’t the demographic who would appreciate (and finance) a kitchen full of nice modern cabinets. No?
Love the work guys, there’s no substitute for big gorgeous images -regardless of load times.

Wow guys, that’s some slick furniture and cabinetry. Thanks for sharing.

dare i ask: roughly how much per box? say a base 36″ in the 600 series.
By Kevin E, June 27, 2011 @ 3:18 pm
Robb-
Our sink box, that is designed to incorporate a large bottom drawer and accommodate all cut-outs for electrical, garbage disposal, instahot, etc., is approximately $1000. We can include a custom large stainless sink with non-directional finish for an additional $600.
This is all a bit out of context. What’s more helpful is to note that our kitchens typically range from $20K-$40K and wall-hung bath vanities are around $1.5-$2K.
We aren’t the cheapest around, but I’d bet my kiddos on the fact that we provide the best value for anyone making mid-high range cabinets- as we say, you’ll pass our cabinets/ furniture on to your grandkids.

thanks Kevin.
agreed, your kitchen range was much more helpful then a per box estimate. you guys do beautiful work. and your clients are not just getting cabinets… they are getting pieces of art!
