    There was a very good article many years ago in the Atlantic Monthly about the ship-breaking industry in India: http://www.wesjones.com/shipbreakers.htm
    it looks to be dangerous, controversial and entirely fascinating. Burtynsky really dials it in with the photos.

    The photos present an odd illusion – landscapes created entirely by humans but the photos are completely void of the “authors” of this work.

    Good call on option 3. It’s not easy making environmental devastation look so beautiful.

    All those beautiful granite/marble now ended up in some suburbia kitchen counter…. waiting to be dated and thrown out by some interior designer..
